Meet the Teachers
Niki Lundberg
Niki has been hosting yoga retreats and trainings in Thailand, Sweden, France and India for many years. She has witnessed and facilitated the personal evolution of hundreds of people on these retreats and trainings and is convinced not only of the transformative power of yoga but also of the fact that this transformation can be sparked instantly and irrevocably - sometimes a short yoga immersion is all it takes for these journeys to begin.
Niki believes that yoga can change the world for the better and uses her talents as a yoga teacher, group facilitator and mentor to effect that change at every possible opportunity. In particular, she is committed to developing yoga teachers who, as well as being technically proficient, are emotionally aware and mature (with skills such as non-reactive listening and holding space). In general, she is committed to spreading the magic of yoga as widely as possible with as many people as possible.
Michael Murray
Michael worked for nine years as a finance lawyer before finding yoga as a means to handle stress. Very quickly it became much more than that for him - it became a tool by which he was able to reconnect with his true self, a true self he had been repressing for a long time. It also led him to Niki and, with that, to finding the purpose of his life - to live in love, to share his life with Niki, and together, to share the transformative power of yoga with as many people as possible.
Michael teaches a physical and playful, flowing style of yoga accessible for all, but is just as focussed on the more subtle and the higher elements of yoga - breath, meditation, self-realisation and transformation.
Sandana Yoga
Sandana Yoga draws its inspiration from the sanskrit word Sandhāna (सन्धान), meaning unity, connection and peace. To us, this describes the essence of yoga - the state of connection and unity, between yourself and your true nature, and the peace that you taste, even momentarily, when you find that connection. Sandana Yoga was created by us, Niki and Michael, as a way for us to share with you the practices that have helped us connect to ourselves and each other, and changed our lives beyond recognition. These practices include physical yoga, but extend far beyond this into areas such as meditation, pranayama, energetic practices, emotional awareness work and yoga philosophy teachings.
More than this, we see yoga as a powerful tool to facilitate connection between people and communities - to bring people together. Once individuals connect with themselves, and begin to understand their true nature, they then open up to the possibility of meeting and connecting with others on a similar journey.
And so for us, Sandana Yoga is our way of building community, fostering connection, growth and transformation; and doing all of that by simply sharing with others the practices that have changed our lives.
We offer weekly online practices via the Sandana Circle, we teach yoga and meditation classes in person on Koh Samui in Thailand, we run Yoga Teacher Trainings (100 Hour, 200 Hour and 300 Hour) and we hold yoga retreats around the world.
